Cllr. Varney Sherman’s visit to North Carolina on September 10th to 12th, 2004

On September 10 th at about 2:20pm, Cllr. Sherman and his entourage arrived at the home of Mr. And Mrs. Justin Zigbuo in Greensboro, NC, to meet with Liberian Businessmen and women. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. At the meeting, the Entrepreneurs discussed with Cllr. Sherman ways in which they could link up with Liberian businesses in Liberia to make doing business in the country beneficial for both groups. Discussion also centered on encouraging and giving Liberians the opportunity to start their own businesses. There were also questions and answer period after which the entourage and entrepreneurs were treated to a hearty lunch……. courtesy of the Zigbuos.

Cllr. Sherman arrived in Charlotte, NC at @ 7:45pm. At 8:30pm he went to the American Legion Hall where a town hall meeting was held. The Meeting was very well attended. After prayers, welcoming remarks, and introduction, Cllr. Sherman made a statement in which he told the audience of his vision for Liberia. The message was well received. A question and answer period followed his message. A hearty dinner followed.

Saturday afternoon, September 11 th, a soccer match was played between Barrolle and Ghana Black Star; Cllr. Sherman gave the kick off for the game. The game was well attended drawing the largest crowd. During the game, Cllr. Sherman worked the crowd for about three hours engaging groups as well as individuals in discussions as well as questions and answers. Here again, Cllr. Sherman was well received and appreciated.

Cllr. Sherman and entourage left Charlotte on Sunday afternoon after having lunch at the home of Mrs. Capitola Green.
